7th Grade Math
August 2012
Dear Parents and Families:
I want to extend to you and your child my warmest welcome into my classroom. My name is Mr. Lozano and I will be your child’s 7th grade Math Teacher this year. This will be my first year teaching at XXXXXX Middle School, but I have over 5 years of experience working as an educator assistant in a classroom environment. I graduated with a degree in Kinesiology: Exercise Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio. I enjoy exercising and playing a variety of sports as well has spending time with my fiancée. I love to travel and am currently learning to speak Spanish.
My philosophy for teaching is that each child is unique and that each child learns in a different way. With that being said I feel that one of my jobs as a teacher is to help your child discover his or her individuality and work with them to help maximize their learning. I believe in learning through hands on experiences and getting the children directly involved. Attached to this page you will find a list of my rules and procedures for inside the classroom. If you wish to get in touch with me to set up a parent teacher conference or for any other reason my school phone number is XXX-XXX-XXXX and my school email is XXXXXX@XXXX.net. I am really looking forward to having your son or daughter and a fun-filled year.
Blessings,
Mr. Lozano

Classroom Management Plan
Rules
- Be polite, courteous and respectful to everyone. With this rule students will learn to respect not only myself (the teacher) but other students. Being polite and courteous will allow for optimum learning in the classroom along with teaching the students manners they will use in everyday life.
- Be seated when the bell rings. Because middle school students aren’t quite used to a bell system this teaches them promptness and classroom time won’t be wasted with students trying to get to their seats.
- No Bullying. This is a bully free zone and I will have a zero tolerance policy with this subject.
- Come to class prepared and ready to learn. This includes having homework, assignments or projects ready. The other part entails the student being ready to learn, throughout the day there will be many times for students to visit but in the classroom learning comes first.
Rewards
- Verbal Praise
- Good notes or email sent home
- Test extra credit sheets. If you finish homework in class and there is still class time remaining students will have opportunity to work on extra math sheets that when completed will give them 3 extra points on a test.
- Lozano Club. Top 3 test scores per period will be written along with students name on white board and students will be given a homework pass.
- Homework pass. With homework pass this allows student an extra day to complete homework with no penalty. If student accumulates 5 homework passes this gives student 1 time exemption from homework and they will be given a 100 for that homework assignment.
Consequences
- Verbal Warning
- Student/Teacher Conference
- Note or Phone call home
- Parent/ Teacher Conference with referral to office
- Administrative Involvement
